Gunners begin Benjamin Sesko talks as Alexander Isak warning sent

Arsenal are set to back Mikel Arteta in the summer transfer window and a new striker is top of the agenda, with the likes of Benjamin Sesko and Alexander Isak both linked

Arsenal are set for a huge summer in the transfer as they hope to finally lift some silverware next season. The Gunners have not won a trophy since their FA Cup triumph in 2020 and failed to capitalise on Manchester City's drop-off in form.

Arsenal also fell short in the Champions League, getting knocked out in the quarter-finals by Paris Saint-Germain after a memorable victory over Real Madrid in the last 16. However, Arsenal co-chairman Josh Kroenke has stated that the club are ready to "invest" in the squad this summer.

Attacking reinforcements are top of Mikel Arteta's shopping list, while Arsenal are confident that a £51million deal for Martin Zubimendi is already in place after the Real Sociedad midfielder snubbed a move to Liverpool last summer.

Sesko talks

According to Sky Sports Germany, Arsenal are in talks with RB Leipzig over a big money move for striker Benjamin Sesko.

The report states that Leipzig are ready to cash in on the 21-year-old after failing to qualify for the Champions League and Arsenal's sporting director Andrea Berta is said to have made contact with his counterpart Marcel Schafer to discuss a deal.

It is claimed that Leipzig's asking price is more than €80million (£67m), but they are willing to negotiate the payment structure which could make the deal more affordable for the Gunners.

Isak warning

Another forward that Arsenal have been heavily linked with is Newcastle's Alexander Isak, but they have been warned that striking a deal will not be straightforward.

"I think, you know, he's absolutely lauded as a centre forward in Newcastle, so why would he want to go," former Premier League striker Teddy Sheringham told Prime Casino. "He might not want to change. It doesn't get much better than fans loving you, and your team playing to the best aspects of your game, and you are the focal point.

"You're earning good money and you're in the team. You're playing at the top level and players understand you and your manager loves you. So, you know, you, I'd be very surprised if he would want to go anywhere else at the moment."

Arteta's transfer admission

Arteta has revealed that Arsenal will sign a new striker this summer, even though Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus will return from injury next season.

Havertz could be ready to return for the final game of the season and when asked if that could alter the club's transfer plans, Arteta replied: "What is clear with the amount of injuries we had in the front line is that we need a goal threat.

"We need the firepower out there, and understanding that the context can change tomorrow. We cannot rely just on the numbers we had before. We have to add goals, we have to add creativity, we have to add numbers and that will be in different positions."
