Arsenal are already preparing for this summer’s transfer window as Mikel Arteta looks to shake things up after a disappointing season.
The number one rumour at the Emirates Stadium is around the future of Martin Odegaard, who the Gunners are keen to make a permanent fixture after an impressive loan spell so far.
Arteta needs a new playmaker to support the efforts of Emile Smith Rowe, and Real Madrid star Odegaard is believed to be target number one.
Elsewhere, a new striker is potentially on the horizon, while there is always talk of Arteta improving his inconsistent defence.
Here is the latest round-up of Arsenal’s transfer news and rumours.
Aguero encouraged to join Gunners
Sergio Aguero has been encouraged to join Arsenal if he decides to stay in England when he leaves Manchester City at the end of the season.
Paul Merson reckons the Gunners tick all the boxes for the Argentine, who has been linked with Barcelona and Manchester United.
"Will he stay in England or will his next move be abroad?” Merson told Sky Sports.
"If he stays in England, I think Arsenal would suit the style he would be looking for. They'd be a good choice.
"Mikel Arteta was at Manchester City [as assistant manager] and the way Arsenal play; they get around the box and they do create a lot of opportunities. Arsenal do tick that box for Aguero."
Martin Odegaard alternative identified
Arsenal have reportedly identified an alternative option to Martin Odegaard this summer if Real Madrid do not want to sell the Norwegian.
Talk has been rife of the Gunners making Odegaard’s deal permanent at the end of the season due to his impressive performances so far on loan.
But if they are unable to land Odegaard, Sky Sports in Germany claim that the north London club are considering a move for RB Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku.
The Frenchman has six goals and five assists in 21 Bundesliga games this season, and is said to have been targeted by Arsenal before he left PSG for Leipzig back in 2019.
Arsenal eye 'the next Dayot Upamecano'
Arsenal are reportedly eyeing a move for a young defender who has been dubbed 'the next Dayot Upamecano’.
Valenciennes defender Ismael Doukoure has broken through in Ligue 2 the season, making 15 senior appearances.
The 17-year-old has been compared with former Arsenal target, RB Leipzig star Upamecano, with his “precocity and position” most comparable, according to Foot Mercato.
The Gunners could face competition from Leicester for Doukoure’s signature though, with the Foxes also keen on the breakout star.

Like must arsenal sign cheap players?? I mean if you want somebody with the traits of upamecano, why not go direct and get him? must they sign the shadow version of a player in the name of getting a *next* so and so??
Upamecano has already been signed by Bayern. Have you been living under a rock this year?

Arsenal wants to sign everybody and end up signing rejects from Chelsea and ManU.
True, in the last 21yrs (42 transfer windows), we've signed just two players from United (Silvestre, Welbeck) and about 5 from Chelsea (Gallas, Benayoun, Cech, Luiz and Willian) STBC... so Einstein, you're making ur claim on something that happens very rarely. But hey, let illiterates be illiterates

This is another level of obtuse... is that Arsenal's scout report or just media comparisons? who can control what the media says? if they say a defender is new Haaland, does that mean any club agrees with that assertion?... if he's white, would he be compared to Upamecano? The media loves people like you.

Aguero has lost everything since when he started using this satanic sign
[image]
He's gotten richer and he's leaving the club appreciated, going to have a statue erected in his honor too... And Satan doesn't exist anyway, he's as real as Zeus or Poseidon, maybe Thor, most probably Loki.

The satanic sign has given him reoccurring injuries. Satan must get his share of his little success. Absurdity
