Arsenal are unwilling to pay €90m release clause for RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano, as the kicker learned.

When Dayot Upamecano did not appear at the Leipzig training ground on Wednesday, it naturally fueled speculation about the future of the French defender.

Up to the Bundesliga start a week later Upamecano should be back on board and also beyond a fixed size in the RB squad remain.

The fact that Arsenal are interested in the 20-year-old center-back has been known for a long time.

RB has only partially the handle of action in his hand, an exit clause enshrined in Upamecano's 2021 fixed-term contract, which stood at 100 million euros in the summer of 2018 and declined annually. It should currently be around 90 million euros, but Arsenal is apparently unwilling to pay that amount.

Recently, the club from the Premier League was no longer limited to scouting but worked seriously on a commitment.

Leipzig bosses refused the offer and gave Upamecano to understand that he did not get a release for a change.
