Former Tottenham and England striker Darren Bent has called on Arsenal to sign out-of-favour Spurs star Dele Alli.

The 24-year-old midfielder was hauled off at half-time in Tottenham's defeat to Everton in their opening game and has not featured in the Premier League since.

Speculation of a rift with Jose Mourinho has seen Alli linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain, though the Spurs boss has said the player will stay in north London.

Asked if Alli will be at Spurs after the 5 October transfer deadline, Mourinho said: "I believe [he will]. I can even say that I'm convinced that he will be."

Nonetheless, Bent insists Alli should take on a "fresh challenge" as he looks to rejuvenate his career.

The 36-year-old told talkSPORT : "He’s been at Tottenham for a while now and I think maybe he’s a product of a process where he’s been at Spurs.

"They’ve got to the Champions League final, but other than that, there’s been a couple of top-four finishes.

"I think any player comes a point where they need a fresh challenge.

"I think for Dele Alli, Mourinho has come in, they’ve clashed, and I think he’s thinking, ‘I need a new challenge here’.

"I think he deserves that. He’s not going to be happy playing Carabao Cup games because they play Chelsea in the week and if they get beat that’s no more Carabao Cup.

"So are we saying we won’t see him in the Premier League for weeks and weeks?

"We can’t wait until the FA Cup, so if I’m Dele Alli I’m looking at an option to get out of there."

Boyhood Arsenal fan Bent was also asked if he would like to see Alli move to the Emirates.

He responded: "100 per cent - I wouldn’t even hesitate."

Meanwhile, Gunners legend Ray Parlour also tipped Alli to make a £50million switch to Tottenham's local rivals.
