Arsenal vs Norwich could be set break 28 year old Premier League record

Arsenalโ€™s poor start

Arsenal have endured a horrific start to the Premier League campaign, losing each of their opening three fixtures, failing to score, and conceding 9 in the process. The Gunners will point to the fact that they have been missing several key men and have played the Premier League champions in Manchester City and the European Champions in Chelsea.

Nevertheless, they sit rock bottom of the Premier League table, and manager Mikel Arteta is coming under increasing pressure from both Arsenal fans and the Arsenal hierarchy to turn the situation around, pronto.

To make matters worse, the Gunners see their north London rivals sit atop the table heading into the international break, a stark contrast to the form of Artetaโ€™s side.

Another side that have endured a dreadful start to the season are Premier League new boys Norwich, who sit above Arsenal only by virtue of having scored a goal, although they have conceded 10.

Record could tumble

The pair face off in the first fixture after the international break in an early-season clash at the bottom of the table (although Arsenal surely will not remain there for long). And the clash between the sides, should goals fly in, could be one for the record books.

This comes with the worst start in Premier League history after 4 games having been Swindon Town in 1993-94, who finished gameweek 4 with zero points and a -12 goal difference.

Both Arsenal and Norwich sit on zero points with a goal difference of -9 at present, meaning that a victory for either side by a margin of three goals would equal the record, and should either side be on the side of a hammering, the record could tumble.

Would it spell the end of a managerial stint for either club?
