Arsenal's transfer targets for 2022

Arsenal are enjoying a good run of form at the moment which has seen them move to fourth place in the Premier League, but head coach Mikel Arteta is looking to bolster his squad in the new year.

Arteta has turned results around in recent weeks after a shaky start to the season, but isn't standing still as the January transfer window approaches.

Possible new striking options

With rumours of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang heading towards the exit door at the Emirates Stadium after being stripped of the captaincy, the Gunners have been linked with a move for Fiorentina's Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic, who is currently the Serie A top scorer with 16 goals and two assists in 19 games.

Another forward Arteta is reportedly keen on is Manchester United's Mason Greenwood, who could be keen on a move with competition for places becoming very tough at Old Trafford this season.

Also, there are rumours that they could make a big-money move for Everton's Dominic Calvert-Lewis this summer with Alexandre Lacazette looking likely to leave on a free transfer as his contract expires.

Strengthen in midfield

Lille midfielder Renato Sanches has also hinted the London side are interested in his services as he weighs up his future in the coming days.

There have also been reports from Spain that Real Madrid midfielder Isco is unhappy at the club, refusing to warm up as a substitute in their last three games, and Arsenal could make a move for the Spanish international.

City rivals Tottenham have been linked with Juventus' Dejan Kulusevski as he's struggled to nail down a place, but it's far more likely he'll be making a move to the Emirates in the upcoming window.

One big name that could be on their way back to England is Barcelona's Phillipe Coutinho, who has been linked with Arsenal in previous windows. The Brazilian is one of the highest-earners at the Camp Nou and also said to not be in head coach Xavi's plans going forward, so a transfer could make sense for all parties with Arteta's side said to be working on a deal.
