Ashley Young will pen new deal at Manchester United and dash Inter Milan hopes

Ashley Young is close to penning a new one-year deal at Manchester United – to the frustration of Inter Milan.

The Italian giants wanted Young on a free transfer this summer as his current contract is up.

But United have been negotiating with Young, 33, for weeks and the star has just received a new, improved offer.

Mirror Sport understands Young, who has been captaining United regularly this term, is now preparing to sign on again with United.

Young, who has made 227 United appearances, is currently on £130,000-a-week.

He will now extend his stay at Old Trafford to nearly a decade after joining from Aston Villa in 2011.

But he is only getting another 12 month contract as United are now reluctant to give longer deals to anyone over the age of 30.

It means even fellow potential free agent Juan Mata, 30, is also only being offered another one-year deal too.

Inter were dangling a two-year deal for Young and were hoping he would wait until the summer before signing his future away.

United are reportedly set to be tested by a £100million bid from Real Madrid for Marcus Rashford.

According to The Sun , the Spanish giants are refusing to give up on their efforts to sign the England international.

They are hopeful of striking a deal in the summer before Rashford pens a new deal after the youngster decided to stall on discussing terms for an Old Trafford extension.

Los Blancos officials are understood to have made initial contact with Rashford's representatives back in November as he was growing discontent under Jose Mourinho.

Whilst Rashford has had a resurgence in form under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and is primed to be offered a mega money deal by the Red Devils, his decision to hold off on talks has given Real Madrid hope.
