Aston Villa 0-1 Villarreal: Hosts are shocked by Spanish visitors and Etienne Capoue's late strike

Aston Villa fell to a 1-0 defeat at home to Villarreal in their final mid-season friendly on Thursday night.

Former Watford and Tottenham midfielder Etienne Capoue scored the only goal of the evening late into the match at Villa Park.

It was the final friendly for Unai Emery's side before they return to Premier League action against Liverpool on Boxing Day.
