Aubameyang shows off £270,000 Lamborghini before Southampton clash

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will be hoping his Midas touch applies to more than just his Lamborghini Aventador when Arsenal take on Southampton.

The Gabonese striker was captured behind the wheel of his gleaming £270,000 vehicle by his brother Willy on Instagram.

The Arsenal forward cruised into a driveway in his gold-coloured sports car, one of several high-end models the former Dortmund player owns.

Aubameyang is known to drive cars including a Ferrari 812 Superfast, Porsche Panamera Turbo Techart and an Aston Martin D89 Volante 2.

The Gunners talisman clearly has an eye for speed both on and off the field, and the striker will be hoping to put that pace to good use against Southampton on Sunday.

Unai Emery's side still have their sights set on a top four finish and will hope to capitalise on Chelsea's recent struggles and pray that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Manchester United reboot comes unstuck.

Aubameyang is targeting a golden boot of a different kind, having scored 15 goals from 25 league appearances this season.

He is currently trailing Mohamed Salah and Sergio Aguero, who both have 17 top flight goals to their names, while returning Tottenham striker Harry Kane is tied with his north London counterpart on 15.

Aubameyang will be hoping to add that tally against the Saints on Sunday, having recovered from an illness that led to him missing a 2-1 win at Huddersfield.

Southampton will prove to be a tricky test as the south-coast club are showing positive signs of recovery under Ralph Hasenhuttl.

Emery will be hoping for a positive result to end disquiet following an unsatisfactory run of form, that included a shock 1-0 defeat away to BATE Borisov.

Arsenal recovered in the second leg to go through 3-1 on aggregate, but memories of their 22-game unbeaten run at the start of the season are becoming increasingly distant.

'Of course we need patience,' Granit Xhaka said ahead of Sunday's game.

'It's not so easy for him as well. He needs time. He needs to learn better and better and better. But I think we work very well with him and all the players are happy.'
