Cesar Azpilicueta says he heard Chelsea fans singing his name after waking up from Saturday's horror clash with Southampton forward Sekou Mara at Stamford Bridge.
The 33-year-old was knocked unconscious during Chelsea's clash with Southampton after Mara attempted an overhead kick but booted the defender in the face.
Azpilicueta received 10 minutes of medical care on the pitch before being escorted off on a stretcher and taken to hospital to be examined by the doctors.
Azpilicueta was eventually discharged and pictured back at Chelsea's Cobham training ground on Tuesday afternoon.
Chelsea have now shared a video of the 33-year-old defender watching training. In the video Azpilicueta recalls hearing the fans singing his name after the incident.
Speaking at the training ground he said: 'I'm feeling okay. Great to be back after being discharged from the hospital and coming to say hello and watch training.
'It was scary. Mostly for the people around and for my family. You know, the last thing I could remember was when the corner was going to be kicked.'
He went on to add: 'The first thing when I woke up was when the fans were signing my name. So I would like to say thank you.'
'Yeah it was instinct. You know, as I said the first time I remember to be awake and, you know, to hear the name and to clap them as well, you know, the moment.
'We are going through a difficult moment. So it's very important to stick together and, you know, the situation that I was in, you know, to say thank you and hopefully I can see them in different situation.
'Well, now couple of days to recover well and then start progressively work my way onto the pitch. So, we have to take it step by step.'
The defender had previously shared some updates from the hospital, positing a picture of himself giving a thumbs up while smiling while he underwent tests.
Azpilicueta was discharged soon after the picture was posted and returned to Chelsea's training ground to link-up with his team-mates.
He was even pictured enjoying a drink alongside boss Graham Potter during the first-team training session.
Chelsea posted a short-statement, which read: 'Following a concussion injury sustained during Saturday's game against Southampton, Cesar Azpilicueta has been discharged from hospital and is recovering well at Cobham.
'The club's medical team are closely monitoring Cesar's condition, adhering to the important concussion protocols in place to ensure his safety.
'Cesar observed training today, before he starts working towards returning to the pitch.'
Azpilicueta will remain sidelined for the time being, but boss Graham Potter will be hoping to have the defender back at his disposal in the coming weeks, as they continue to try turn their fortunes around.

Think about the team we’re playing against we might as well try not conceding since we can’t score in any formation
