The BBC could show their first ever top-flight English league game if the 2019-20 Premier League season resumes according to The Times.
The proposal, which is being discussed among the Premier League's shareholders, broadcasters and government officials, is designed to show many of the remaining 92 matches of the season on TV.
Of those 92 games, 47 have already been allocated for TV coverage and the plan is to give the remaining 45 to the main rights holder Sky, as well as BT Sport, Amazon and BBC.
If the plan is agreed to by all parties, it would be the first time the BBC has ever shown an English top-flight match live.
An insider told The Times, that the option of giving games to the BBC is 'very much on the table'.
The plan will be outlined to Premier League chairman at a video-conference meeting of the top-flight clubs on Monday.
Of the 45 unallocated matches, Sky would take 32, BT Sport would take eight and five would be split between the BBC and Amazon based on the value of each broadcaster's TV deal with the league.
Sky pay £1.139 billion a year for 128 games a season, BT Sport pays around £350m for 52 games and the BBC pay £133m for the highlights. Amazon also pay £30m a year for 20 matches.
The BBC has shown live FA Cup and England matches before but never league games.
ITV had the rights when the first league matches were shown live in 1988 and Sky took the contract when the Premier League was introduced in 1992.
