Lionel Messi may not be the clear favourite to win the Ballon d'Or this year, but he claimed 48 percent of the votes in a poll organised by France Football, the organisers of the award.
Mohamed Salah was in second place, with 31 percent, and Cristiano Ronaldo was in third, with eight percent, before the online vote was then removed.
While public opinion doesn't factor into who wins the prize, France Football decided to take this vote down, angering many football fans.

If public opinion is not a guarantee for winning an award then its not transparent or democratic. France football should be scrapped with immediate alacrity. Already we know messi don't need those award to be the GOAT. In fact he should reject it and all the other awards by this uefa /FIFA biased swards.

i think messi deserves the ballon d'or. he put a very impressive individual performs when he helped Argentina qualify for world cup with a phenomenal hatrick. he also help back break la liga unbeaten record' he was topscorer for europe among the nominees, and Barcelona finished 15 points a head of rivals real madrid, he's the goat and he's form never changes, dont forget he was scored over 40goals each season since 2008. Respect the goat whether he wins or not, but he deserves this one
