It appears that the swap deal between Barcelona and Juventus for Arthur Melo and Miralem Pjanic is edging ever closer. According to Sky Sports Italia journalist, Gianluca DiMarzio, via his website gianlucadimarzio.com, there are small details to iron out but the deal is expected to be concluded within the next 48 hours.
Melo, though he hasn’t lived up to the ‘new Xavi’ hype that accompanied his purchase by the Catalans, still has years ahead of him during which to improve, and is precisely the sort of player to fit Barca’s style.
Further, at 23 years of age, it could be said that he’s at least five years away from his peak as a player, whereas Pjanic, who it’s believed will cost Barca €60m plus bonuses, per gianlucadimarzio.com, is already 30 and therefore has limited time left at the top level.
The strategy of the swap deal between Arthur and Pjanić is comparable with the swap deal executed last summer between Cillessen and Neto. Barça will receive around 70 million euros for Arthur, to balance the books before June 30th, and will then pay a little less for Pjanić, per Mundo Deportivo.
Arthur has taken his farewell at Barcelona for granted and awaits the agreement between Barcelona and Juventus to be fully finalised. The announcement of the swap deal between him and Pjanić could be announced as early as this week.

What is it with Barcelona and poor transfer deals? They wasted 385 million Euros on Coutinho, Griezmann and Dembélé alone. If reports are to be believed, the values being thrown around are 80 million Euros for Arthur and 70 million Euros for Pjanić. I don’t know about Arthur, but 70 million Euros for an under-performing 30 year-old midfielder seems outrageous. Ignoring the values too, I strongly feel that the difference between the prices of Arthur and Pjanić is more than 10 million Euros. this seems to be a completely ridiculous transfer, especially when you consider the fact that the Brazilian currently earns three million Euros a year, whereas Pjanić makes 7.5 million, . What’s even makes it more crazy is that they are swapping a young player for an older one. Arturo Vidal is 33 years-old, Ivan Rakitić is 32 years of age, and Sergio Busquets will turn 32 very soon . Adding a 30 year-old to such an ageing midfield makes no sense at all, but then again, when did Barcelona’s transfer policies start making sense?

Now it's Arthur, if like this happens barca will be like AC Milan, like they had best players like Schevenko,Maldini,Kaka, Baresi, Costacurta, Tassotti etc. but now they just have Ibrahimovic.Like that Barca had Iniesta, Maradona ,Ronaldo Nazario, Cruyff, Eto'o ,Puyol etc. but now they are not there. As like as AC Milan Barcelona will also become weak and weak and weaker than any other club. Reason is they want just experienced aged players but they don't want youngsters. AC Milan also did same they left all young players. They just kept aged experienced players, left all young players. So they were strong for some years. After retirement of those legends they became weak.Same will happen to Barcelona.
