Barca have 19 January transfer targets with Man Utd and Chelsea stars on list

Barcelona have 19 players on their radar ahead of the January transfer window, according to reports.

The Catalan giants have supposedly pledged to bring in two reinforcements in the New Year as they battle Real Madrid for the La Liga title. And Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool all have players who are of interest to Xavi's side…

Barcelona have lost just once in La Liga so far this season, with the Catalan giants three points behind fierce rivals Real Madrid in the process.

But Xavi is under pressure in Catalonia following his side's failure to deliver in the Champions League, with the five-time winners poised to spend the rest of the season playing in the Europa League instead.

Now, according to Sport, Barcelona have pledged to back Xavi with two signings when the transfer window reopens in the New Year.

And it's said there are 19 potential candidates for the La Liga giants as they look to up the ante in the second half of the season.

Manchester United star Diogo Dalot is one player on their radar, with the Portugal international enjoying a terrific season at Old Trafford so far.

There looks to be precious little chance of a deal right now, however, with the Red Devils hopeful they can convince the former Porto star to sign a new contract.

Chelsea pair N'Golo Kante and Jorginho are also said to be targets, too.

Kante has struggled with injuries this term and the Blues, consequently, are in no rush to negotiate a new contract with the midfielder's existing deal due to expire this summer.

Jorginho has been a key player for Graham Potter, just as he was for the likes of Thomas Tuchel and Frank Lampard previously, so would be difficult to acquire.

Fabinho, of Liverpool, is admired by Barcelona having flourished at Anfield following his move from Monaco in 2018.

And they're not the only Premier League players Xavi is tracking as he looks to become a success in the Barcelona dugout.

Southampton's James Ward-Prowse is a surprising target, despite the midfielder long being linked with a move away from the club.

West Ham's Declan Rice is admired, though there seems to be precious little chance of the Hammers letting him go in January.

Manchester City star Rodri also has his votes of confidence at Barcelona though, like with West Ham and Rice, it's hard to see him moving midway through the season.

Leicester's Wilfred Ndidi is being tracked, too, with the Foxes enduring a difficult start to the current season.

And Ruben Neves links remain ongoing, despite the Wolves star failing to get his dream move to Barcelona back in the summer.

Other targets for Barcelona include Vanderson, Thomas Meunier, Stephane Singo, Sandro Tonali, Martin Zubimendi, Leon Goretzka, Juan Foyth, Guido Rodriguez, Jeremie Frimpong and Dani Parejo.

But who they end up recruiting this winter remains to be seen.

Speaking after his side lost 3-0 to Bayern Munich on Tuesday, meanwhile, Xavi conceded his side hadn't bene good enough in Europe this season.

“Today we have not reached their level, they have been better,” he said.

“In Munich it was us, but today they have been better, more intense. The elimination affected us psychologically.

“Tomorrow, we train and think about La Liga. There were high expectations, we had a difficult group.

“Everything possible happened to us. It has been very cruel. We didn't compete well today.”
