Manchester United spent last summer trying to sign Frenkie de Jong but the player was clear that he wanted to stay at Barcelona.
Barça coach Xavi Hernandez has spoken about the transfer that was not ahead of Thursday's Europa League game against the English side.
"He was really clear to me, he wanted to stay with us, so there was no doubt," Xavi said of United's attempts to land the Dutchman.
"Now he is our player, I am really happy and satisfied with his performance, his leadership.
"He is in a very good moment on the pitch and I think he is enjoying himself."
