Barcelona could register their worst points total in 13 years

At the end of a disappointing season, Barcelona now find themselves in a situation where they must win their last two games to avoid registering their worst points total in the last 13 years.

The Blaugrana currently sit on 76 points and taking six from their final two LaLiga Santander games would put them on 82, the same as last season.

Failure to secure two victories in the remaining games would mean going back to 2007/08 to find a worse Barcelona points total in LaLiga.

That season, under Frank Rijkaard, the Catalans finished third and way off the pace, costing the Dutch boss his job that summer.

In recent years, Barcelona have tended to reach around 91 points, with 100 being the highest, in 2012/13.

Therefore, regardless of whatr happens against Celta Vigo and Eibar, this Barcelona team will be far behind their recent predecessors.

Since that 2007/08 campaign, the Blaugrana have only failed to reach 90 points on four occasions, last season with 82 and in another three with 87.

Ending the season with two wins would allow Barcelona to head into the summer on a slightly more positive note, even if it comes too late for them to have a say in the title race.

Winning both matches will be no easy feat, however, with Celta motivated by the European dream and Eibar desperately trying to avoid relegation.
