Barcelona defender Pique mocked for 'Sunday League errors' and is told to retire

Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has been mocked for making 'Sunday League errors' during his team's 3-3 draw with Inter Milan.

Xavi's side are on the brink of being knocked out of Europe's elite club competition having taken just four points from their first four games.

Despite his vast experience, Pique endured some difficult moments against Inter.

The centre-back was especially at fault for Nicolo Barella's goal, which saw Inter make it 1-1.

Pique tried to play Lautaro Martinez onside, even though the striker was in his own half.

Barcelona had taken the lead through Ousmane Dembele, but Barella equalised for Inter. Lautaro Martinez then put Inter in front before Robert Lewandowski levelled for Barcelona. Robin Gosens restored Inter's lead only for Lewandowski to net again.

Another Twitter user posted a picture of Pique's hapless defending and wrote: 'How do I explain my kids this is a pro footballer'.

In addition, another Twitter user claimed that Pique should have his contract terminated.

They wrote: 'Terminate his contract I can’t stand this anymore'.

Another Twitter user mocked Pique's defending by suggesting that his actions were similar to dance moves from his former partner Shakira.

They wrote: 'Pique meme season is back'.

One Twitter user indicated that it is time for the 35-year-old to retire.

They wrote: 'Thank you Pique for ruining another season with a disasterclass performance. If you have just a bit of shame plz retire'.

Barcelona still have two Champions League group games remaining, at home to Bayern Munich and away to Viktoria Plzen, but their hopes of progressing to the knockout stages are fading.
