Barcelona's director for women's football Maria Teixidor has discussed the controversy generated during the flight to the United States for this summer's pre-season tour.
When travelling from Barcelona to Portland, Ernesto Valverde's side were in first class, while Fran Sanchez's women's team were in economy class.
In a letter read by Josep Vives during his appearance before the media on Thursday and later published on social media, the board and Teixidor defended the position of the club and invited a more constructive argument in relation to this issue.
"To all those who these days are dedicated to criticising the conditions of the travel of the women's team, I want to tell them that they do not realise that Barcelona are making it possible for the female players to travel with the male players so that in the near future they can travel in business on their own flights," the statement began.
"There will be a day in which we can talk of equality, because female sport will occupy the same space in the media as that devoted to male sport.
"It will fill front pages, front pages that summon the masses to the stadiums, masses that bring the sponsors closer to the female teams, sponsors that generate income for them to be paid the same wages as their male equivalents, and sponsors who'll have to pay the same amounts as to the men's teams.
"There will be a day when organisers devote the same resources to the female competitions as the male ones, when the federations make the bonuses and the prizes paid to men and women equal.
"Until that day arrives, it is enough to recognise the effort that this club, a pioneer in so many things, does now for women's sport.
"A new world is built by getting together and rowing all in the same direction, each from their part and responsibility.
"In the meantime, less cynicism."
This tour is the first mixed-sex tour in the history of Barça and a photo was published of some of the female players in business class, before they returned to economy.

yea, but the point is they werent all in their own plane at 1st class, and not all male players are better than female players. so its kinda messed uo to have the females go bussiness class in the same plane where the males are first class. lets hope they resolve the issue soon

And may God bless your optimism. But to be realistic I don't see what will cause it Maybe it will have more heart? but for entertainment value the male sport stills dominate. The physicality, the dribbles, the goals the passing. the male game is very pleasing on the eye
