Barcelona 'looking to sign Celtic's Josip Juranovic' after he impressed for Croatia in the World Cup

Celtic right back Josip Juranovic has attracted the attention of various European clubs after impressing in Croatia's World Cup campaign.

Despite being in and out of his club side, the 27-year-old played every minute for his country in Qatar as Croatia finished third in the tournament.

He was particularly impressive in the quarter final, keeping Vinicius Junior quiet as Zlatko Dalic's side knocked out favourites Brazil.

The right back now appears to be in high demand, with Sky Sports' Dharmesh Sheth reporting that 'Barcelona are looking to bring him in'.

He also claimed that Atletico Madrid are in the hunt, with two unnamed Premier sides also keen.

If Juranovic can secure a big money move, it will be a remarkable turn around for a defender who had been usurped by Anthony Ralston at Celtic Park in the weeks leading up to the World Cup.

Losing the defender would likely be a manageable blow for Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou, as Canadian international right back Alistair Johnston will join the club in January to provide cover.

When asked during the World Cup about potentially leaving Celtic, Juranovic gave little away, saying: ‘Honestly, I haven’t read what was written since we arrived at the World Cup.

‘We’re just focused on the national team. I even told my agent not to send me anything. I’m not interested at all right now.'

His tune may have changed now the tournament is over, especially given the size of the clubs coming after him.
