Argentina legend Gabriel Batistuta has reportedly expressed an interest in the managerial vacancy at Middlesbrough.

Middlesbrough are on the lookout for a new manager following the departure of Tony Pulis and have been linked with several candidates, including their former player Jonathan Woodgate.

However, as reported by The Hartlepool Mail, Batistuta has put himself forward for the position.

The report indicates that Batistuta is eager to work in England having completed his coaching badges last year.

Now aged 50, Batistuta enjoyed an eventful career, the vast majority of which was spent at Fiorentina, and is remembered for his prolific nature in front of goal.

Batistuta, who scored 54 goals in 77 appearances for Argentina, commenced his career at Newell's Old Boys prior to moving on to River Plate and subsequently Boca Juniors.
