Match Report
This was a meeting between last year's finalists and they both contributed in a hugely entertaining game that in itself would have been worthy of being the final of the competition.
Mbappe took just three minutes to make his mark as he was fed by Neymar and the striker thumped a drive through Manuel Neuer's legs.
Marquinhos doubled the lead for the French champions midway through the first half with a neat finish from a great ball by Neymar before ex-PSG striker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting headed home to halve the deficit.
Neuer made amends for his earlier mistake by denying Neymar from point-blank range early in the second half, before Keylor Navas kept out strikes from David Alaba and Benjamin Pavard at the other end.
But Bayern Munich kept up the pressure and deservedly levelled on the hour mark when Thomas Muller guided a header into the back of the net from Joshua Kimmich's free kick.
However, Mbappe had the final say as he swept a low strike through Jerome Boateng's legs late on to give PSG a third crucial away goal heading into the second leg.

The Neymar Mappe effect and magic is showing different colours in football today. The duo capitalised in the counter, the moment they got the opportunity. They did not miss their available chances hence converted into goals. So important in big games such as these. While Bayern did not. Any professional watching as a viewer could analyse and rate the standard of plays.Bayern looked too organised in possesion, ball controls and passings. They held the play almost 90%.On the contrary PSG looked amateurs with no team coordination, miss passes and lack of ball control and possesion.In short useless in UCL level in the European Lights. Bayern were dominating and bullying left right and centre. PSG backs and midfielders were running behind them like college girls with knowing nothing what to do. This is not the art of modern football to watch. We need something more to enjoy this beautiful game. My question here is, how long can just Neymar and Mbappe carry the load of the team as always. Thank God K eylor Navas was a good purchase. He has been a saviour in front of goal as we can see. So my honest opinion is that what the hell has PSG been purchasing all these years after Neymar and Mbappe buyouts. Dont the Sporting director have enough knowledge to pair up same level purchase in the midfield rather than buying vegetables from the local mart. Its high time PSG Board start purchasing fanastic players in the midfield whereby Neymar could be free from doing all those jobs single handedly. See how well Real Madrid is performing with those 3 halfs of Modric, Casemiro and Kroose. Final judgement verdict. What a wonderful, great game. PSG competed so well against the night Bayern. Happy for them. BUT this game is far from being finished. For so many reasons. If PSG could score 4 goals against Barca at Camp Nou, so can Bayern at Paris stadium...ooh Neymar, Mbappe, what performance. Looking at Mbappe scoring braces, hat tricks against the likes of Barca, Bayern makes u think some of CR7,Messi records are in trouble. Neymar passing is so good. I strongly believe he got those from Messi,bcos I remember Messi crossing them to him during their time together at Barca. I hope PSG goes thru to the next round bcos they deserve it after putting up such a great resistance... ooh and Navas. What a goalie. He was my MOTH, followed by Mbappe, then Neymar. If not for Navas, Bayern would have sth like 5+ goals as they had more than 10shots on target.
