Bayern Munich sound out Zidane to replace Kovac (Sun)

BAYERN MUNICH have sounded out Zinedine Zidane as their new boss to replace Niko Kovac in a major blow to Manchester United.

Kovac has been struggling in Bavaria, leading Bayern to only FIFTH in the German top-flight this season.

With his job on the line, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Co are eyeing up the former Los Blancos chief, who won THREE Champions League titles in Madrid.

Zizou has been out of work since the summer after calling time on his stint at the Bernabeu - in the same month as winning his third European title.

Zidane no only dominated Europe during his two-and-a-half-year spell, he also won the 2016-17 La Liga title to become one of the continent's most sought-after bosses.

Los Blancos have now tied down Santiago Solari as permanent boss after a strong start as interim chief following the sacking of Julen Lopetegui.

But with the Red Devils wildly under-par this term - sitting EIGHTH in the Premier League, already 12 points behind City - bosses are contemplating a change of attitude.

Zidane was being lined up earlier this season by United, but with results improving a touch they may now wait until the summer to make wholesale changes.

Meanwhile, Arsenal star Aaron Ramsey could also find his way to Munich in the summer.

Bayern are said to be leading the race to land the sought-after Welsh star on a free transfer as his contract saga appears to have reached a dead-end.
