Bayern Munich 'want to sign Julian Alvarez and Adrien Rabiot' this summer

Bayern Munich are reportedly keen on making moves for both Julian Alvarez and Adrien Rabiot this summer.

It has been a difficult season for the Bavarians who - after winning the Bundesliga for 10 years in a row - look set to miss out on the title to Borussia Dortmund this season after a costly 3-1 defeat at home to RB Leipzig on Saturday.

They also crashed out of the German Cup and Champions League at the quarter-final stage and despite Thomas Tuchel replacing the sacked Julian Nagelsmann in March, Bayern have struggled for consistency.

The former Chelsea boss has won just five of his 11 games in charge and along with sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic, is keen to strengthen his squad for next season.

And, according to German outlet BILD, Man City striker Alvarez and Juventus midfielder Rabiot have been added to their list of transfer targets this summer.

Bayern are desperate to bring in a top quality striker and a deep-lying midfielder and have several names on their list of targets.

Alvarez has enjoyed a fine first season in England, scoring 17 goals - although he has started just 22 games as he has competed with Erling Haaland up-front.

Having joined City for a bargain £14.1m from River Plate, the World Cup winner also recently signed a new deal to keep him at the club until 2028.

Meanwhile, Rabiot - who had a short stint in City's youth academy and has also played for PSG - has enjoyed an impressive campaign in Italy with Juventus, scoring 11 goals in 44 games which is the most prolific season of his career by far.

However, he is out of contract at the end of the season and the report states Bayern - who also chased him when he left PSG on a free in 2019 - are keen.

His mother and agent Veronique Rabiot, a notoriously tough negotiator, wants to increase her son's salary which is reportedly €7m (£6.1m) net per year.

The French midfielder has already attracted the interest of several clubs including Manchester United, with a potential move to Old Trafford falling through last summer.

However, the report goes onto state that Rabiot and Alvarez aren't priority targets for the German giants.

Randal Kolo Muani and Harry Kane are preferred as potential signings in attack, while Declan Rice and Mateo Kovacic are above Rabiot in their list of ideal midfield recruits.

Bayern do still have a chance of rescuing this season by winning the title, but they must beat FC Koln on the final day this Saturday and hope Dortmund only draw or lose to Mainz.

If their rivals are successful, it would be Dortmund's first league title since 2011-12 under Jurgen Klopp.
