Bayern still 'eye on Sane, Mandzukic & Can' as transfer window almost closed

Manchester City star Leroy Sane remains on Bayern Munich’s wanted list despite his lengthy lay-off with an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

Sane, 23, emerged as one of Bayern's top targets this summer, with the German champions looking to add wingers to their ranks following the departures of Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery.

However, a return to his home country looked as though it might be off the cards after he was injured during City's Community Shield win over Liverpool at the start of August .

It was later confirmed that Sane had damaged his anterior cruciate ligament - a problem that is expected to keep rule him out for the majority of the current campaign.

City boss Pep Guardiola initially suggested the winger could miss six to seven months and he recently underwent surgery on the issue.

However, the prospect of a long injury lay-off does not appear to have put off Bayern as Niko Kovac looks to add to his squad before the transfer window closes on Monday.

Juventus ’ Croatia star Mario Mandzukic is also believed to be pushing for a move to the Allianz Arena while team-mate Emre Can is also on the Bundesliga club's radar.

Croatia striker Mandzukic spent two years with Bayern before securing a move to Atletico Madrid in 2014 and then joining Juve the following summer.
