Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin has shared pictures of his gruesome scar as he continues on his road to recovery from a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament.
The Spaniard went down unchallenged during the second half of his team's 2-0 victory over Chelsea last month and has already had surgery to repair the problem.
He now finds himself on the long road back to action and has taken to Instagram to share the latest update from his most recent medical appointment.
Bellerin shared a number of pictures of him taking off the bandage that has been protecting the wound to reveal a three-inch scar running vertically along his knee.
He appears to be in good spirits though and added the caption: 'So far so good. It's starting to look like a knee again.'
Bellerin has been documenting his road to recovery on social media, with fans rushing to wish him well.
He has also spent time with former Barcelona team-mate Gerard Deulofeu and former Napoli winger Ezequiel Lavezzi to help him through his recovery.
The Spaniard has appeared as positive as possible despite the prospect of a lengthy lay-off, which could see him sidelined for up to nine months.
The Gunners will sorely miss Bellerin as the defender had firmly established himself as Unai Emery's first-choice right back, despite the arrival of the experienced Stephan Lichtsteiner.
The 23-year-old struggled at times last season but he has become more effective under Emery and has made a significant contribution both defensively and in an attacking sense.
Bellerin had made 19 Premier League appearances before sustaining the injury to his left knee.
Since joining from Barcelona aged just 16, the Spaniard has racked up 181 games and scored seven goals.

i still think arsenal should've accepted the 50 million from barca 2 years ago
when he could well worth more in future, and rely on Carl Jenkinson... you're not a gunner!

I remember when Arsenal fans sang "u not fit to wear the shirt" to Hector Bellerin, now, looking at us without him, there's none fitter to wear that shirt! Get well soon, Hector Bellerin Moruno!

I'm not sure I've seen a player attempting to cover the process of recovery and such, so that's actually really interesting. Hector seems really strong mentally.

Sounds like he's going to document things honestly and transparently throughout his recovery, which is pretty refreshing and interesting to hear how a top level athlete is coping with a significant injury both physically and mentally.

Football is such a ruthless game. He had just recovered from a calf muscle injury and was delighted to be back in the squad. And then, tragedy strikes and he ends up with ruptured cruciate injury. I feel sorry for Hector, but I believe that he will come back stronger, both on the pitch and the fashion ramp.

Loosing the season is one thing but,at the risk of sounding ominous, this sounds bad for his career as a whole, even at 23

Ask pep for his performance enhancing drugs, I mean performance enhancing doctor. That guy's insane.

First Holding and now Bellerin. Two long term injuries in the same season, this sucks balls. Hope he comes back stronger!

Considering the alternatives are Lichsteiner, Jenkinson and Maitland-Niles this is a massive blow to our top 4 hopes. Can't see them signing a replacement either.

Besides being devastating for our team it’s devastating for the guy. Hope he can bounce back and heal quickly.

Man just as soon as he came back into the squad 😢 We really needed him in the back for the rest of the season. Not sure the players we currently have right now can match the impact he has on the field,

We could use an attacking midfielder to replace Ramsey, a striker to replace Welbeck, and any wingers at all tbf

Bellerín has been playing so well and fits Emery’s tactics so well; this is going to be a huge miss. We need to look at signing fullbacks for cover and future development
