Liverpool are hopeful of capitalising on Jamal Musiala’s contract uncertainty at Bayern Munich – but the playmaker’s friendship with Jude Bellingham may complicate his transfer.
The Reds are considering a sensational move for Musiala, 20, with Jurgen Klopp a huge admirer of the former Chelsea youth star. The Germany international is not leaving Bayern Munich anytime soon, with a contract with the German champions running through to 2026.
Musiala has played a crucial role in Bayern's success in recent years, scoring 16 goals and providing 16 assists in all competitions last season. He famously came off the bench to score a last-gasp winner against Koln in May to hand Bayern the Bundesliga title.
Yet despite already consolidating his status as one of Europe’s best attacking players and with his prime years seemingly still lying ahead of him, all is not ideal for his situation at Bayern. As reported by Bild, contract renewal talks scheduled for April have yet to take place with Musiala less than happy with not being an undisputed starter at Bayern.
That has sparked interest from Liverpool, but there would likely be a long list of clubs competing for Musiala’s signature. Real Madrid would be monitoring his future, with the report outlining that the player’s long-term friendship with Bellingham – stretching back to their days together in the same England youth sides – could prove crucial.
“Jude and I got on really well immediately,” Musiala previously told FourFourTwo. “We had loads of laughs together on the England trips. We loved playing table tennis, and watching TV shows and movies together. We were just two lads, dreaming of becoming footballers.”
The Bayern star added: “Jude and I are close friends and always will be. But we’re rivals, too. We say a quick hello before the game – a nod in the tunnel – but then it’s down to business. He wants to win. I want to win. Everything else goes out of the window for 90 minutes.”
Musiala has already 10 trophies with Bayern - including the Champions League - and was named in the Bundesliga's Team of the Season for 2022/23. He boasts an impressive record in the Bundesliga, scoring 23 goals and providing 20 assists in 94 games.
Musiala was asked about the possibility of returning to England last year. He told Sport Bild: "The Premier League is a really strong league, the biggest stars go there. But I don't know if I will go there someday too. All I know is that I really enjoyed my time in England.
"There are many factors and many details to consider. I'm very happy at Bayern. But you never know what will happen in six, seven years."

Madrid is bigger than anyone individual, Madrid makes players better. Cristiano legacy would be in grave danger in Madrid with the likes of Bellingham,Musialla, Mbappe,Vini, etc. Madrid won Ucl without cr5 but Cr5 has never gone beyond r16 since he was sacked out of Madrid. Cr5 has never won any major trophies or individual award ever seen he left Madrid. He lost Balloondor to Modric and Benzema just because he left Madrid, meaning madrid helped cr5 to steal lots of Balloondor and now he is not even in 30 nominees because no Perez no party. After cr5 left Madrid, 2 players from Madrid have won Balloondor, meaning Madrid has always has fantastic players,so Madrid made cr5 better while Messi made Barca better. Since Messi left Barca relegated to Europa league without Messi but Madrid without cr5 won Ucl and 2 Balloondor. Ask yourself, what has Barca won without Messi? Messi won 2 golden shoes and 2 Balloondor without Xavi Naymer iniesta but won Balloondor playing alongside Pedri,Fati, ilax who are la mesia academy players but Cr5 has never won Balloondor without Benzema, kroos and Modric apart from the one he won at UTD .
