The Nigerian Super Eagles will play the Cheetahs of Benin Republic, in a 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualification fixture.

This will be the second meeting between the two countries after Nigeria lost in the qualifying round for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria recorded a 3-0 victory at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium against Benin Republic.

In Benin Republic's 18 meetings with Nigeria, the Super Eagles have won 14, lost 2, and drawn 2.

In a 1-0 triumph over the Super Eagles in 2017, the Cheetahs won for the first time and then for the second time in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier.

CAF has chosen Senegalese official Issa Sy to officiate Thursday's match.

Sy was in charge when the Super Eagles defeated Angola 1-0 at the same location in a quarterfinal of the Africa Cup of Nations finals.

Compatriots El Hadji Amadou Sy (fourth official), Nouha Bangoura (assistant 2), and Djibril Camara (assistant 1) will support him.

The commissioner will be Ivorian Rene Williams Sere, while the referee assessor will be Angolan Inacio Manuel Candido.

The Super Eagles simply need a win or draw in Thursday's match to guarantee a spot in the 35th AFCON, which will take place in Morocco from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.

On Thursday, September 14, the Super Eagles of Nigeria play the Benin Republic's Cheetahs.

The game on Matchday 5 is set to begin at 5 p.m. Nigeria time at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
