Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva believes Joao Felix has the potential to have a "brilliant career" as the Portuguese wonderkid continues to be linked with a move to the Premier League.

The 19-year-old has emerged as one of the most exciting young players in the world after a breakthrough season in Portugal.

And City playmaker Bernardo believes his young Portugal team-mate has what it takes to play for the some of the best teams in the world.

"Felix is a kid who is 19 years old," the midfielder told Portuguese outlet RTP , per the Manchester Evening News .

"He's very young, he has a giant margin for progression, and he has shown that if he works, and if he makes the right choices in his career, he can make a brilliant career.

"So he could play for the best clubs in the world and can be part of a group that few players can reach."

In addition to Felix, the City have also been linked with a move for Sporting Lisbon Bruno Fernandes as he looks to find a long-term replacement for 34-year-old Fernandinho.

And although Bernardo admitted that both players are good enough to pursue careers outside of Portugal, he refused to be drawn on speculation linking them with moves to Manchester.

He continued: "I think they are players who have shown in our [the Portuguese] league that they have a lot of quality and could maybe go to leagues with more competitive clubs, without being critical of of our league and our clubs.”

"Bruno, an older guy, is my age and has had unbelievable numbers.

"He can play in more competitive leagues, and can make a brilliant career."

But when asked whether he had been consulted about his compatriots, Bernardo simply added. "I don't answer."
