Betting: All-Premier League final 6/5 after Liverpool complete clean sweep

The Reds saw off Bayern Munich to ensure all four English teams qualified for the quarter-finals, increasing the chance of two meeting in the finale

Liverpool completed a clean sweep of English success in the Champions League last 16 with a surprisingly comfortable 3-1 win over Bayern Munich.

A brace from Sadio Mane sandwiched a thundering header by Virgil van Dijk to send the Reds through and join fellow Premier League sides Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham in the quarter-finals.

Ahead of the draw on Friday, which could see two English sides pitted against each other, bet365 go 6/5 (2.20) that the final is contested by two Premier League sides.

bet365’s Steve Freeth said: “We had originally quoted 16/1 about all four progressing when the draw was made back in December and Man Utd then went out to 20/1 to qualify after the home defeat versus PSG.

“However, the Red Devils pulled off a stunning victory in Paris and Liverpool put the icing on the cake in Munich, joining Man City and Spurs, in what could lead to the first all-English final since Moscow in 2008.”

In the 11 years since that final, which saw United beat Chelsea on penalties, only the Blues have managed to lift the trophy with the Red Devils and Liverpool reaching the showpiece event once each.

This is also the first time since 2009 that four English teams have reached the quarter-finals, with three going on to reach the semi-finals before Barcelona scooped the crown.

bet365 also offer 11/8 (2.38) that one Premier League side gets to the final and 10/3 (4.33) that all four are knocked out before the final.

It is 4/6 (1.67) that an English team goes to lift the Champions League trophy in Madrid in June, which is little surprise considering no other country has more than one team left.

City are 5/2 (3.50) favourites to win the competition this term with Liverpool fourth in the market at 9/2 (5.50), whilst United and Spurs can be backed at 12/1 (13.0) and 14/1 (15.0) respectively.

Barcelona are the sole representative of Spain and are available at 10/3 (4.33), whilst Juventus are 4/1 (5.0) following Cristiano Ronaldo’s heroic hat-trick against Atletico Madrid.

Ajax, who stunned reigning champions Real Madrid in the last 16, are 25/1 (26.0) to become the first Dutch champions since 1995 with Porto further afield at 80/1 (81.0).
