In prolific form on home turf, Al Hain-Cole is backing Guardiola's men to pull off a high-scoring victory against the Blues at the Etihad Stadium

Manchester City will be hoping to make a major statement in the Premier League title race when Chelsea visit the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

Pep Guardiola's men have overhauled Liverpool to sit top of the league going into the weekend, albeit having played one extra game.

Having lost 2-0 in the reverse encounter at Stamford Bridge, they are 4/9 (1.44) favourites with bet365 to lay down a marker with a big win here.

The Blues have lost two of their last three league matches, and are 11/2 (6.50) outsiders to strike another blow to the hosts' title bid by pulling off a shock victory.

None of the last nine meetings between this pair have resulted in draws, but there are odds of 7/2 (4.50) available on this one finishing up all square.

Claudio Bravo and Vincent Kompany remain long-term absentees, although Benjamin Mendy could be fit to rejoin the squad as he struggles with an ongoing knee issue.

With the luxury of a fully fit squad to choose from, the guests may choose to bring Antonio Rudiger back into the line-up after he was left on the bench for last weekend's 5-0 win over Huddersfield.

While their title rivals will be viewing this as a potential banana skin for the Citizens, it is hard to see them slipping up on current form.

The hosts have won 15 and lost just one of their last 16 home matches, bouncing back from a shock 3-2 defeat against Palace to win each of the six subsequent games by an aggregate scoreline of 29-2.

Having beaten Liverpool and Arsenal in that six-game streak, they should have little trouble on Sunday given Maurizio Sarri's team has lost three consecutive away games - including a 4-0 thrashing by Bournemouth last time out.

In fact, odds of 11/10 (2.10) seem too good to pass up on City recording a convincing win in their 14th consecutive home match featuring over 2.5 goals.
