The Foxes will be missing Jamie Vardy for their trip to St Mary's Stadium but there is another big price anytime goalscorer wager worth considering

Leicester City got their first win of the Premier League season with a 2-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend.

Just as importantly though, Claude Puel will be without Jamie Vardy for the next three games after the England striker was shown a straight red card in the second half.

Southampton host the Foxes - and their former boss - on Saturday afternoon. bet365 make the home side 29/20 (2.45) to win the game while Leicester are available at 9/4 (3.25). The draw is priced at 11/5 (3.20) with the same firm.

The visitors won the last meeting between the pair at St Mary's by a 4-1 score line. However, given the somewhat fortuitous nature of their previous result against Wolves, it's tough to read enough into the match odds at this early stage of the campaign, especially with Vardy missing.

Mark Hughes' side drew 0-0 with Burnley before their 2-1 reverse at the hands of Everton and those kinds of results will be a concern ahead of much tougher tests to come. The main issue looks to be in attack with Dusan Tadic departing for Ajax and the main goal threats coming from injury prone pair Danny Ings and Charlie Austin.

Having finished 17th in the Premier League last season - scoring just 37 times in the process - any lack of improvement could easily see the south coast club sucked into another relegation battle. That's still a 4/1 (5.0) shot and looks overpriced for those searching for a longer-term selection.

In terms of this match though, Vardy's absence presents a slice of value in the anytime goalscorer market. Kelechi Iheanacho should lead the line for the visitors and the Nigeria international got four goals in pre-season. He's a 11/5 (3.20) shot to score but look beyond the former Manchester City man in favour of a new arrival.

James Maddison got his Leicester career off to a good start with the second goal against Wolves. The 21-year-old has a big reputation after a string of impressive Championship displays for Norwich and seems to be taking the step up in his stride.

Occupying the number 10 role behind a central striker, Maddison is both a creative outlet and a goal scoring threat. He fired 14 goals in 42 starts in the second-tier last season and looks a solid selection at 11/4 (3.75) with bet365 to score anytime in this game.
