Betting Tips: Spurs vs Manchester City

Jose Mourinho will be keen to get one over on old rival Pep Guardiola when Tottenham take on Manchester City in Sunday’s Premier League clash.

The Portuguese manager has lost more games against his opposite number than versus any other opponent, suffering 10 defeats in 23 encounters.

Having overseen just one win in the last five league matches, he is priced at 19/4 (4.80) with bet365 to pull off a high profile win here.

The Citizens have won four and lost none of the last five meetings against this opposition, and are clear 1/2 (1.50) favourites to come out on top once again in this one.

These sides shared a 2-2 draw in August’s reverse encounter at the Etihad Stadium, and there are odds of 15/4 (4.75) available on them cancelling each other out once again.

Ben Davies, Harry Kane and Moussa Sissoko are all sidelined due to injury, although new signing Steven Bergwijn is in line for a debut.

Aymeric Laporte, Benjamin Mendy and Fernandinho are all doubtful after missing Wednesday’s Carabao Cup defeat against Manchester United, while Leroy Sane is still short of fitness despite returning to training.

Having found the net just twice in four matches since Kane’s injury, Spurs will not want to go toe-to-toe with the league’s top-scoring outfit in an open match.

Instead, Mourinho will be looking to keep things tight for as long as possible, meaning it may take a while for the floodgates to open.

With this in mind, odds of 20/21 (1.95) are well worth backing on the majority of the goals being scored in the second half.

That bet would have paid out in five of City’s last six league fixtures, and looks all the more attractive considering Tottenham have find the net prior to the break just once in their previous seven.
