Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has signed a new permanent deal but with silverware unlikely this term, the pressure will be on in his first full campaign
Manchester United are 7/4 (2.75) to win a major trophy next season after the club appointed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on a permanent basis.
The Norwegian was handed a three-year deal on Thursday morning after a stellar run of results since he took over the club as caretaker in December, winning 14 out of 19 games.
United look set to go without silverware this season, unless they can defy William Hill’s enhanced 25/1 (26.0) price on them winning the Champions League, and Solskjaer will be determined to make up for that next term.
For the purposes of this market, a major trophy is defined as the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup or Carabao Cup.
The Red Devils failed to claim any silverware last term too but not since the late 1980s have they failed to lift a major trophy for three campaigns in a row.
William Hill have a range of other specials available, too. They offer 6/4 (2.50) on Solskjaer still being in charge on May 1 2022, which would make him the club’s longest serving manager since Sir Alex Ferguson.
David Moyes was unceremoniously fired after just 10 months in charge following a disastrous debut season, whilst Louis Van Gaal and Jose Mourinho lasted two and three years respectively. Solskjaer to leave the club before the end of next season is 5/2 (3.50).
The bookmaker go 13/8 (2.63) that United finish above Liverpool next season and 2/1 (3.0) that they are able to finish above Manchester City – with a Premier League title priced at 6/1 (7.0).
Whilst Solskjaer has certainly turned things around at Old Trafford, taking 32 Premier League points out of a possible 39, there are still areas on the pitch that need addressing.
Defence is one of those, considering, United have kept just five clean sheets under their new boss, and it is 2/1 (3.0) that they break their transfer record of £89.3 million this summer.
Considering how much Liverpool spent on Virgil van Dijk, who has transformed the Reds' defence, it is not out of the question that United follow suit by splashing out on a commanding defender.
It is 9/2 (5.50) that Gareth Bale leaves Real Madrid for Old Trafford after six years in the Spanish capital, which could feasibly top that £89.3 million depending on the La Liga club’s demands.

They need their coach to take part as winger at ground to win the trophy otherwise I can’t see potential in M-United current team to win it.

Chill ..... he’s just been appointed.....do not keep very high expectations...we’re not even sure he’s gonna get the signings he wants
Let’s hope he gets the players he wants .......

Be positive bro... he will steer us clear and believe me United will back him with a hefty amount to spend in the summer some clubs will laugh all the way to the bank snd United will laugh all the way to toTrophies

I am sure United will be breathing down the neck of City, Liverpool next season... now that a Legend moulded out of United DNA is steering the ship. Its not the winning that United is famous for but giving the fight to the finish is what it is... haters described the penultimate goals as Fergie Time. How many clubs has that fighting attitide till the last whistle? Let United regroup, kivk out deadwoods reon in a couple of proven quality players and we are goid to ho. GGMU
