The Dons were rank outsiders to beat their Premier League opponents on Saturday but put in a stellar performance to upset the book in the fourth round

There was a 500/1 (501.0) winner in the FA Cup on Saturday night as League One strugglers AFC Wimbledon stunned Premier League West Ham United 4-2.

The Dons are currently bottom of the third tier, having won just six league games all season, and were 13/1 (14.0) outsiders with bet365 to progress to the fifth round inside 90 minutes at the Cherry Red Records Stadium.

With just 22 league goals to their name after 29 league games, it is little wonder the hosts were such long odds, but Scott Wagstaff’s double helped them on their way to victory and helped land a 500/1 (501.0) correct score play.

The bookmakers were not even convinced Wimbledon would find the net, with bet365 making it 5/4 (2.25) that both teams would score.

Find the net they did though, going 2-0 up by half-time and making it 3-0 just moments after the break, with both teams to score landing when Lucas Perez pulled a goal back for the Hammers.

Felipe Anderson set up a nervy ending with a superb free kick 20 minutes from time, but Toby Sibbick’s late header put the cherry on the cake and ensured those 500/1 (501.0) correct score odds paid out.

There were very few other upsets in this round of the cup but 17/4 (5.25) Millwall did stun Everton 3-2 on Saturday to book their place in the fifth round of the tournament for the second time in three seasons.

The Lions twice came from a goal behind and it looked as if a replay was on the cards but Murray Wallace’s 94th minute goal ensured his side upset the form book.

That scoreline would have paid out at 40/1 (41.0) pre-match, whilst both teams to score was available at 9/10 (1.90).

A win double featuring Wimbledon and Millwall – whose grounds are just 18 miles apart – would have paid out at over 72/1 (73.0) whilst a correct score double would have netted over £20,000 from a £1 stake.
