Bild: Havertz and wife visit pediatric ward, donate 100,000 euros

According to Bild, German international Kai Arsenal, who currently plays for Arsenal, and his wife Sophia recently visited the "Zeitinsel" children's hospice in Leverkusen and donated 100,000 euros through their foundation.

Havertz and his wife used their vacation to visit the severely ill children in the hospice and presented a check for 100,000 euros. The two-hour scenes, as seen from the photos, were very impactful.

Havertz said: "My journey started in Leverkusen. I grew up here, and I really learned to play football here, just like I do today. The children's hospice is a special place that brings comfort, time, and hope to seriously ill children and their families. It touched me deeply to be able to visit here with my wife. I am also proud that my foundation will provide long-term support here in the future."

Kai and Sophia welcomed their first son in March 2025. As young parents, they are particularly concerned about the plight of these children.

In this hospice, medical staff accompany children and adolescents with life-limiting illnesses. The goal here is to improve the quality of life for young patients, alleviate their suffering, and help their families as much as possible during this difficult time.

Dr. Dejan Vrajanić, Medical Director of the hospice, said: "'Zeitinsel' (Time Island) represents gentleness and protection. It is like a small world outside of real life, where only the present matters, and time seems to stretch, allowing space for closeness, dignity, strength, courage, and hope. Kai and Sophia's willingness to make time for our families is as important to us as their generous support."
