Boca Juniors will not treat Joan Gamper trophy against Barcelona as a friendly

Boca Juniors are in the Catalan capital to take on Barcelona in the Joan Gamper trophy but while it is a friendly, the Argentine side are fully focused on a morale boosting victory.

Guillermo Barros Schelotto has targetted the Copa Libertadores, the domestic league and cup, and the Joan Gamper.

"We have the obligation to be Boca, it doesn't matter the rival or the game," said Schelotto, whose side beat Talleres 1-0 in the Argentine Superliga on Sunday.

"Aside from the players being tired they are focused on taking on Barcelona, Messi and they want to win."

It will be the first time that Messi faces Boca, having played against Estudiantes and River Plate in the Club World Cup in 2009 and 2015, respectively.

Carlos Tevez travels with Boca but he is going through a difficult spell on the pitch, no longer an automatic starter and he missed a penalty against Talleres last weekend.

"I am always happy to play with or against him (Messi) and so I will enjoy this moment," said Tevez, now 34, on his arrival at Barcelona airport."

Schelotto is set to put out his best Xl, the same side that beat Libertad of Paraguay in the Copa Libertadores last week.
