Bolton may not play their final game of the season should they be placed into administration, with the Championship club's takeover collapsing on Thursday night.
The English Football League announced that the crisis club's home match with Brentford, postponed in the midst of a player strike, had been rescheduled for Tuesday.
However, they added that should the relegated outfit go into administration they will not insist on the match taking place in a bid to allow an administrator to focus fully on finding a new owner.
Prospective new owner Laurence Bassini had been given until Thursday night to provide proof that he could fund a takeover from controversial owner Ken Anderson.
But Bolton announced in mid-evening that they considered Bassini's approach 'at an end' and said they would hold 'no further discussions' with him.
They added that Anderson would consult advisers before considering the best course of action.
Players were given loans from the PFA to cover portions of March's wages, which were not paid. April salaries have also not been received.
