Bradford's manager search hampered after chief executive's number was LEAKED

Bradford City's search for a new manager has been hampered by irate fans who posted the chief executive’s phone number on social media — prompting a barrage of abuse and forcing him to change it.

Ryan Sparks’ details were made public by an anonymous follower of the League Two club on transfer deadline day.

In the wake of the troll’s post, the 30-year-old began receiving a number of expletive-laden messages and calls and, upon advice, took a new number.

It has caused a number of headaches, especially in the search for Derek Adams’ replacement — who was sacked as Bradford’s manager last week.

Agents of potential new bosses have struggled to get in touch with Sparks after initially trying his old number.

While most have eventually managed to make contact, it is a problem that the chief executive could do without as he attempts to turn things around at Valley Parade.

Both Sparks and Bradford declined to comment, and it is understood that the official has also had to start parking away from the stadium after a number of smashed beer bottles were found next to his vehicle following a recent match.

Adams was shown the door with the West Yorkshire club 11th in the table. The Scot had joined from Morecambe in June, but won only nine of his 38 games in charge in all competitions.

Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler is among a large number of candidates who have applied for the vacant managerial role. The 46-year-old’s last position was in charge of Indian side East Bengal from October 2020 to September last year.

Assistant Mark Trueman took charge for Saturday’s 2-0 loss at Oldham, with the search for a new manager ongoing.
