Everton's new signing Brennan Johnson has hit back at Jamie O'Hara and Gabby Agbonlahor for their "rubbish" taunts.
The 25-year-old winger has joined Everton from Crystal Palace on a four-year deal after a disappointing spell, with Dwight McNeil moving in the opposite direction as part of the deal.
talkSPORT duo O'Hara criticized the two on Tuesday, laughing: "We'll give you bad reviews, and we'll get bad comebacks!" The two commentators also mentioned their poor statistics last season.
However, hours later, Welshman Johnson couldn't resist hitting back at the former Premier League player.
Johnson, who scored the winning goal in the Europa League final for Tottenham in 2025 and won the Concord League with Crystal Palace last season, replied to talkSPORT's social media short video, writing: "More wins than these two combined." He also added a laughing emoji.
O'Hara wrote on social media on Wednesday morning: "The problem is you only see a clip and not the full context. We were talking about Brennan and McNeil's stats last season, and the stats were indeed rubbish, not that they are bad people. I like McNeil very much and have said that Brennan has all the ability, but he himself would admit that it was a very bad season."
Agbonlahor then apologized to Johnson for the public criticism and called for O'Hara, the former Tottenham midfielder, to do the same.
But O'Hara then added: "Gabby backed down as usual, it's not that serious. Guys, stats are stats, and they don't look good. I hope Brennan scores 20 goals this season."
Johnson, who only joined Crystal Palace eight months ago for £35 million, hopes to revive his career under Everton manager David Moyes.
The Welsh star failed to score in 26 appearances in all competitions after his initial move from Tottenham.
McNeil also struggled last season, with the 26-year-old also failing to score in 25 appearances for Everton.
The former Burnley winger was originally set to join Crystal Palace in January, but that deal ultimately fell through dramatically.
