Brescia fined over offensive 'Napoli coronavirus' chants

Italian club Brescia have been fined 10,000 euro after a section of home fans chanted "Napoli coronavirus" at travelling supporters at the Stadio Mario Rigamonti last week.

Struggling Serie A side have been hit with a 10,000 euro fine by the leagues's governing body after a section of the home fans at the Stadio Mario Rigamonti last Friday as the visitors secured a 1-2 win.

The Italian league's disciplinary commission fined the northern based outfit for: "vulgar, insulting and repeated chants from its supporters against those of the opposing team" in last Friday's Serie A clash.

The country experiencing the highest European casualty rate relating to the Covid-19 virus with the situation heavily impacting on the domestic football league with six Serie A games set to be staged behind closed doors this weekend and Thursday's Europa League clash between Inter and Ludogorets to be played behind closed doors at San Siro.

Brescia's hard-core active supporters later apologised via statement:

"We realise that we have made a mistake since our country is facing the possible development of this disease and we apologise to the Italian families involved," it read.
