Match Report
Jose Mourinho endured a miserable afternoon as Brighton stunned Manchester United amidst a shambolic defensive display from the visitors.
Glenn Murray's delicate finish at the near post put Brighton on their way and within two minutes their lead was doubled. Aided by more shambolic United defending, Shane Duffy slammed home from close range after United failed to clear.
Romelu Lukaku pulled one back with a header but United self-destructed before the break as Eric Bailly lunged in on Pascal Gross to concede a needless penalty, which the German duly converted despite David De Gea's outstretched leg deflecting into the roof of the net.
Mourinho made a double change at the break: hooking Juan Mata and Andreas Pereira for Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard.
The changes made little difference though, with Paul Pogba's long-range strike the only notable effort to bring Mat Ryan into action.
Pogba converted from the spot late on to make the scoreline more respectable.

2nd game of the season and things are already going downhill, can someone please just give me 1 fact how Jose Mourinho is still considered a top quality manager? Look at City, attacking football and win 6-1, look at us, defensive football AGAINST BRIGHTON and we concede 3 goals in 1 half. BRUH. Also it takes only a person with half a brain to realize Mata ain't a RW, its getting stupid now. I'm not calling for Mou to get the sack but its getting ridiculous to try and support his style now.

I feel that Mourinho took the game a bit easier and that effected the game as well From the start line I thought this would happen...pereira a bit young to start as a DM with Fred and Pogba...and Martial in the starting line up without any pre-games Lukaku is not good upfront all his mistakes gave lots of pressure and it all has to be digested by others need to find a solution for Lukaku if we want to win a season

Today, bailley and lindelof were all over the place. Their partnership will take a long time to work. Young on the right back was the weakest link, top that with the brilliant but unathletic Mata supporting him. Darmian would have been better than Young on the right. Perreira isnt matic. Pogba was poor, fred was poor, martial was poor. Shaw and lukaku were the better ones. Such a pathetic performance from man utd. Mou got it wrong from his starting line up.
