Bristol City have turned their attention to Charlton star Lyle Taylor in their attempts to sign a new striker this month.
City were hoping to land Eddie Nketiah on loan from Arsenal last week but saw their hopes dashed when Mikel Arteta decided to keep him at the Emirates rather than send the England under-21 frontman out again.
The Robins have now made enquiries about Taylor as they weigh up a move in the final 10 days of the transfer window.
Addicks talisman Taylor scored 25 goals last season to help Charlton to promotion from League One via the play offs and only a knee injury suffered on international duty with Montserrat in September brought a halt to his brilliant start in the Championship.
Taylor scored five times in his first six appearances in the second tier before being ruled out for three months.
The 29 year-old returned in December and has scored twice more, giving him a tally of seven goals from just 13 games this season.
Taylor has just six months left on his contract and could leave on a free this summer, making this month Charlton's last chance to secure a fee for their prized asset.
And the Valley fans' favourite is currently focused on returning from a minor thigh injury to support Charlton's bid to climb the Championship table.
But City manager Lee Johnson is determined to bolster his frontline this month and is plotting a move to prise Taylor away from the south Londoners before the current transfer window ends.
