Bruno takes to Pogba’s Instagram after Frenchman makes PL history vs Newcastle

Bruno Fernandes was quick to take to the Instagram account of Manchester United teammate Paul Pogba, after the Frenchman’s latest dazzling creative display.

The Red Devils were of course back in action 24 hours ago.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and co. welcomed Steve Bruce’s Newcastle to Old Trafford, for the club’s first outing on the back of the international break.

And what an outing it proved.

After Tottenham fell to a surprise defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace in the day’s early kick-off, United climbed clear of the Lilywhites to the Premier League’s summit, courtesy of a 4-1 win.

Cristiano Ronaldo, on his 2nd debut for the club, inevitably proved the star of the show, netting a brace to hold the Magpies at bay after Javier Manquillo threw a spanner in the works early in the 2nd-half.

Next on the scoresheet was Bruno Fernandes, who bent home a wonderful effort to kill off any hope of a Newcastle comeback ten minutes from time, before Jesse Lingard added some gloss to the scoreline with an injury-time 4th.

‘How can I assist you?’

As outlined above, though, whilst it was Ronaldo who grabbed the headlines amid the action in Manchester on Saturday, it was in fact another member of Solskjaer’s squad who etched his name into the history books.

The player in question? Paul Pogba.

As revealed by statisticians OptaJoe, after teeing up the strikes of both Fernandes and Lingard versus Villa, the French international became the first player in Premier League history to rack up as many as seven assists across his club’s opening four outings of the season:

And one of those to have benefitted from Pogba’s latest creative masterclass was keen to make clear his appreciation for the 28-year-old on Saturday evening.
