It's not much fun watching Manchester United at the moment, just ask Red Devils legend Eric Cantona.

The enigmatic Frenchman, 53, who won four Premier League titles in five years at Old Trafford between 1992 and 1997, is famous for his philosophical quotes and colourful outbursts.

And Cantona delivered a trademark quip to describe the current malaise at Old Trafford.

'Manchester United occupies a very special place in my heart,' he told Otro.

'But watching United play now, it's a bit like making love as an old man... you try as hard as you can but at the end of the day, everyone is a bit disappointed.'

Ole Gunner Solskjaer's side suffered an embarrassing loss at bottom-of-the-table Watford on Sunday.

A howler from David De Gea gifted Nigel Pearson's side the lead, before Troy Deeney netted from the penalty spot to seal a 2-0 victory.

The defeat left Solskjaer's side in eighth place in the Premier League, having won just six of their opening 18 matches.

They have collected 25 points and trail leaders Liverpool by a massive 24 points.

Despite the gulf, Cantona is convinced United will one day get back to the heights they hit under Sir Alex Ferguson.

He added: "They will be back because it's the biggest club in the world.'
