The odds on Eric Cantona becoming Manchester United's Director of Football have been cut following a cryptic Instagram post from the club legend.
Cantona posted a picture of himself on stage turned away from the camera, with the accompanying caption: 'I can’t tell you anything but you will love it!'
And a number of punters have put money on what would be an incredibly left-field appointment.
The chances of the 'King' being made DoF went from 5/1 to evens with Paddy Power.
In fact, the Instagram post led to so many bets on the club's legendary former striker taking the role that he is now favourite.
United are planning a restructure following the sacking of Jose Mourinho and could create a Director of Football position.
Established names such as Monchi (11/2) at Roma and Andrea Berta (11/1) of Atletico Madrid are also in the running along with Paul Mitchell (3/1), Edwin van der Sar (4/1) and Fabio Paratici (11/2).
Cantona's mystery news remains to be seen but the maverick Frenchman's personality seems at odds with what would be an important authoritarian position.
Time will tell whether the 'King' makes a shock return to his throne at Old Trafford.

As I recall Alex Ferguson was on three weeks notice ,then he signed Eric Cantona the tactics of "Libero" first Bruce Palister and later came Ferdinand and Bodice so who better for the position. wfkerrigan
