Cardiff and their Malaysian owners have distanced themselves from manager Neil Warnock's pro-Brexit remarks after Saturday's Premier League game against Huddersfield by saying his views do not represent that of the club.
Warnock launched an attack on the Government's failure to deliver on the 2016 referendum result, saying he could not wait to be out of Europe and added the parting shot: 'To hell with the rest of the world.'
Cardiff issued a club statement on Monday, saying: 'Comments made by our manager following Saturday's fixture are representative of his personal political stance.
'These comments do not reflect the political position of Cardiff City Football Club, nor its board of directors. Cardiff City FC will be making no further comment on the matter.'
Speaking after their 0-0 draw with Huddersfield at the weekend, Warnock aired his views in his press conference after being asked if it will prove more difficult for Premier League clubs to sign players from abroad when they do leave the European Union this year.
'I think once the country knows what they're doing, it will be straightforward (to make signings),' he said.
'Any transfer window is difficult for me, not just this one.
'I don't know why politicians don't do what the country wants, if I'm honest.
'They had a referendum and now we see different politicians and everyone else trying to put their foot in it. Why did we have a referendum in the first bloody place?
'I can't wait to get out of it, if I'm honest. I think we'll be far better out of the bloody thing.
'In every aspect. Football-wise as well, absolutely. To hell with the rest of the world.'
Warnock's struggles to add to his squad during this window have been well documented, with the former Crystal Palace manager publicly attacking Nathaniel Clyne and Liverpool after he felt the pair reneged on a promise for the full back to move to south Wales.
Cardiff are owned by Malaysian businessman Vincent Tan and have players from Africa, Asia, continental Europe and North America.

Isn't a man allowed to have an opinion these days?

It should have nothing to do with the Malaysian owners. Warnock spoke his mind from a personal POV and good for him.

The same owners that decided to tear up a century of history and change both the kit and badge from blue to red because it was lucky? Oh yes those owners... (Cardiff now back in blue and with bluebird on badge) because their views were so wrong.

The owners should get a life -- they obviously haven't got a clue what the Brits are called when they are abroad!

You are not allowed to have political opinion unless you are a leftist remainer.

This is the problem with this country. We had a vote and the majority voted to leave, yet the minute anyone shows support it's made out to be wrong. If he had said he wanted to stay would the club have distanced it self from his comments, no they wouldn't. It wouldn't get a mention.

Not his biggest fan, but well done that man! If he gets sacked for this, then democracy is dead. Remember, Vincent Tan tried to destroy Cardiff's history and heritage by making them play in red. Just what the EU and their Filth Column of giant bosses, students, sell-out politicians and luvvies are doing to the UK really - destroying our nations.

Typical views from a Dinosaur. Malaysian companies have already highlighted that Brexit is destroying their plans for investment in the UK.
