Cardiff City want West Bromwich Albion striker Salomon Rondon.
Manager Neil Warnock has identified the robust Venezuela international should Cardiff seal promotion against Reading on Sunday.
Rondon has a relegation release clause set at £16.5million but Cardiff are likely to offer £12m plus add-ons in a bid to sign the 28-year-old. However, they will face competition from top flight rivals.
Enquiries have already been made to West Brom as they brace themselves for a fire sale should they be relegated.
Rondon, Nacer Chadli, Jay Rodriguez, James McClean, Craig Dawson and Jonny Evans are among the players attracting interest though Albion may struggle to achieve their optimum values where clauses don't exist.
Talks are ongoing over a new manager after Darren Moore staked a claim for the job full time.
Brentford's Dean Smith and Michael Appleton at Leicester remain the frontrunners.

Going to be plenty of decent players to be had from the 3 teams that go out of EPL. Would look at 4-5 signings of players we can afford to keep if we go down to championship. That's if all goes good tomorrow? Be great for Neil to have some real cash to spend next season. Good luck bluebirds.

if he kicks decent players up in the Air for fun, he'll fit in a Warnock team perfectly!
