Jamie Carragher never misses an opportunity to criticise Manchester United and used five-minutes of his analysis spot on Sky's Monday Night Football show to do exactly that.

The Liverpool legend has impressed with his astute tactical analysis in recent weeks and focussed on the frailties of United's defence in their 2-1 weekend defeat by Fulham.
Erik ten Hag suffered his first loss of the new year as Marco Silva's Fulham side scored either side of Harry Maguire's goal to seal a stoppage time victory.
Injuries have hit United hard this season with Maguire and Raphael Varane being put together in a makeshift defence after Lisandro Martinez succumbed to another long-term injury.
However, the defensive partnership that was first crafted during Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's final season in charge rarely works and was picked off with ease by Fulham.

Alex Iwobi's late winner involved Maguire being easily beaten for pace by Adama Traore before Varane failed to close Iwobi down before his eventual strike nestled in the back of the net.
Carragher mocked United's defending against Fulham and questioned the tactics both with and without the ball that Ten Hag had placed on his team.
'We go to the reason why they're poor defensively and can't cope with counterattacks,' Carragher said on Sky Sports.
'They've got no pace at the back and they have a lack of legs in midfield. Another big problem for them is when they've got the ball.'
'These players can't receive the ball in the positions they take up so actually there is a massive problem for Manchester United when they've got the ball.
'How many times have we seen Manchester United players having to run 40 yards back towards their own goal?' he added.
Former Arsenal and Manchester City defender, Gael Clichy joined Carragher in his analysis, adding: 'The compactness of Manchester United is off, a simple pass will eliminate maybe six players of United and what you see is a four against three.'
Carragher replied: 'The most important thing in defending is being compact, it will not go out of style.'
Saturday's defeat at Old Trafford moves United's goal difference back down to zero after previously increasing to +1 since the first match of the season in their win over Luton.
Ten Hag's team have conceded more goals than any other in the Premier League's top six (36) and scored fewer goals than any team in the top half of the table (36).

The problem is , man United tactical game is very outdated….can’t pass properly, can’t defend properly, can’t press, can’t run, can’t dribble….no creativity….i don’t know the Fulham midfielder (Brazilian one), he used to play for United…he is much better than man United midfielder

United's problem is the style of play and even they're hit by injuries as we all know very the number of players who are not playing and those who are fit but still can't do anything much like Anthony, Rashford, Ericksen and others, Remember in defense without Martinez and Luke Shaw just know there's trouble for united to defend even a team from relegation , we need to know the talking points before we think of the coach, I understand sometimes the coach can mess up in selecting the team especially when you have injuries in the most sensitive parts like defense and the midfield and even the striking line as well . Even if you are the one coaching Manchester United you would also be confused with team selection because the senior players are injured. when you look at Manchester United's bench even you can loose hope, it's not like Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal and even some teams in relegation zone , so Manchester United's squard including the flops is just annoying. thanks 👍
U are 💯 right bro

Manchester United defense problems are not only under Ten hag but even any coach can face the same problem so don't think it's TEN HAG'S problem

I think Carragher should lead the way to succeed Klopp and let's say what he can really offer other than criticism

10hag is only a coach from the farmer's league Eridivist where Ajax wins although their is tactical fuck ups by the manager. however in the Epl the error margin is too slim.

Having maguire, lindelof and varane in the same line-up is a killer. None of them has the agility and pace. The 3 of them should be considering packing their stuffs

Fu%k it annoys me to admit Carragher is spot on! our defence is 2nd rate the statistics don't lie but it's not just the defence there's a distinct lack of cohesion, stamina, passion, and commitment. On paper United's team is a good team United's manager is a capable manager including staff "so what's happening" Answers to ETH, at Old Trafford Manchester
