Jamie Carragher believes that Arne Slot could dispense with up to five Liverpool players he 'doesn't rate' this summer.
The Dutchman looks set to lead the Reds to the Premier League title in his first season in charge, having succeeded legendary manager Jurgen Klopp last term.
Slot has made only two signings since his arrival, though neither Giorgi Mamardashvili, on loan at Valencia, or Federico Chiesa, largely absent due to injury, have contributed this term.
Nevertheless, Liverpool are on course to claim a record-equaling 20th top-flight title after Sunday's victory of Manchester City sent them 11 points clear of second place Arsenal with 11 games to play.
Former Reds defender Jamie Carragher believes that Slot has shown his preference for certain players as the season has gone on and relied on an increasingly condensed group. Carragher reckons that will see the Anfield club parting ways with a host of first team players in the summer transfer window.
'What I would say is, and it is an exciting thing for Liverpool, Slot hasn’t bought anyone really,' he said on Sky Sports. 'They bought Chiesa last minute to cover Salah if he was injured. He is going to know this squad a lot better going into next season and if I’m being honest, he only ever used 14 or 15 players.
'There are probably four or five players in the squad he doesn’t rate. I am not being critical but he is probably thinking now I know what this team needs.
'While this team is going to go on and win the league title, I still think there’s three positions in this team that can be improved quite a bit.
'I think Liverpool, could bring a left back in, a centre forward in and an attacking midfielder, players coming into the team then maybe certain areas of the team. That’s pretty exciting because you would imagine Liverpool have money to spend.'
After the win against City, Slot insisted that his side will not get carried away.
'There is no secret. We are 11 points clear but Arsenal has one game in hand,' he said. 'The best attack we had didn’t end in a goal. You always have to adapt to the challenge you have.
'A week ago we experienced how difficult Wolves at home was. They will always be difficult games, like today.
'It is easier for us to not get excited because we know what we have to put in. This result was more about defence than attack. It is normal for fanbases to be positive and it is important to understand why we are where we are.'
Liverpool welcome Newcastle to Anfield on Wednesday night, while Arsenal face a tough away clash at Nottingham Forest.

Calm down dude you are making a hell of a lot of assumptions there. Edwards knows what he is doing, the press know nothing. Never have with Liverpool.
Edwards know what he's doing wen he signed Chiesa?he also knows what he's doing leaving our team to chance?what if we lose another CB?he knows Gravenberch wont get injured or fatigued and expect him to play the entire games in 4 competitions?Edwards and Hughes has nothing to do with liverpool's success this season, its pure luck and a smart manager and Kloop, bcuz all the contributing players has nothing to do with Edwards signing or lack of,yes i surely gave him big props for the signing and yes i know of his past record it was great, but he also did same on his first stint, they build a world class team, then allow the team to run down and starts failing ans allows players contracts to run down then start over, they never build on what they got,and dont replace who left, from wynaldum, etc, also go cheap and end up costing more,no players gonna drop out of the sky by now and summer, all those players were already there, its not all the time you're gonna get world class players cheap, not saying we must do like Chelsea or United but we sure as hell can do alot more better than we are, even clubs not in Europe can out spend us and their progress shows like Forest &Bourmonth etc, this is what cause liverpool to not be more successful over the years, lack of investment in human resources, yet we boast how much profit we made,im glad Edwards is back but we canr always leave the team to chance, every other club came after our dilemma but already renewed or extend their key players contract, but if liverpool wasnt so miser and want to save every dollar, we wouldn't be in this position now,its the same position we were in last 3yrs,so concerned about Salah's age,and now he's even getting better if we did gave him a 5yrs contract instead of 3yrs,we wouldn't be in this position but too miser, now our miserness will cost us more or we lose our key players, in otherwords, yes we must spend wisely but cant be so mean to ourselves ok,we all want our team to be successful, not just to survive on the bare minimum as if we are the poorest club

so liverpool who already has a small squad short of about 3 or 4players after about 15 or more players either sold or left on free and only brought in 4players last season and basically a half a player this season is gonna lose 5 more players and im sure they're not gonna replace even the 5 that left so they'll bring in about three players, selling the club even more short bcuz we all know liverpool dont like spending then think we're going to compete in 4 competitions, liverpool doesnt build from a position of strength they just let the team run down then replace a few and use academy players, now that all the better academy player is either sold ,loan or not good enough and liverpool surely wont properly replace these players what do we expect, to use basically an eleven man team with just a 3or 4 subs, and cant even extend our best players contracts so the five could be around 8players gone,..😀😀😀it seems we hired some sales director instead of sporting director, im just praying we win all we can this season bcuz at this liverpool owner rate imnt sure what next season gonna bring bcuz we are not always gonna be lucky to get bargain transfers and teams are holding price for their top players, so we gonna just settle for opportunity signing which is another word for cheap signing and end up with another chiesa and Author melo, etc
