Carragher makes Liverpool vs Arsenal prediction amid Man City hammer blow

Arsenal news as the Gunners take on Liverpool next in another vital clash in the Premier League title race

Jamie Carragher has predicted that Liverpool will hand Arsenal a blow in their Premier League title chase this weekend. The Gunners visit Anfield on Sunday looking to take another step towards lifting their first league title in nearly 19 years.

Mikel Arteta's men are currently eight points clear of Manchester City at the top of the league with nine games remaining. Though Pep Guardiola's side do have a game in hand, Arsenal continue to prove their doubters wrong.

Next weekend, the Gunners travel to Merseyside to take on Jurgen Klopp's side in one of their toughest fixtures remaining. The Reds were easily defeated last time out by Man City, leaving them in eighth.

Previously, the fixture has been highlighted as a crucial one in the title race by Carragher. And now, the former Premier League defender has delivered his prediction for the Easter Sunday clash.

Speaking after Everton and Tottenham played out a 1-1 draw, Carragher was asked whether he believes Liverpool will beat Arsenal. "Yeah," he said. "I think Liverpool beat Arsenal at home."

"It was City who ended Liverpool's quadruple hopes a year ago. Jurgen Klopp will be desperate to put a dent in Guardiola's treble push this time.

"This will not be how Klopp wanted or planned it, but the logic over the next two weeks is not dissimilar as in previous years for those wanting to celebrate in May.

"Whichever side beats Liverpool will feel like they are a step closer to winning the league. If City succeed and Arsenal do not, the treble talk will get louder."
